Pressure protection valves are used to isolate an auxiliary air system in the event that system develops a major air leak. This pressure protection valve will close off that system at 70 PSI, so there will still be enough air to safely stop the vehicle before the brakes lock up. One example of an auxiliary air system would be the air suspension.
